TouchPad Gesture: ChiralScroll™ for vertical scrolling from Synaptics, Inc. on Vimeo.
Even if you are a die-hard Windows fan, chances are pretty good that once you have had a go at the two-finger scrolls and three-finger gestures on a MacBook, the vanilla Windows trackpad does seem pretty much like a dead fish. Well, here's an interesting hack that could give your Windows notebook similar scrolling and gestures, although we say why go through all that trouble when you can just get an actual MacBook yourself? This mod won't offer pinch-to-zoom or rotation capability, but nearly everything else will be made accessible including two-finger scrolling, gestures and three fingers compatiblity among others.

While Nokia has introduced the X3 and X6 handsets recently, they are working on the X2, preparing it to hit the market in the nearby future. It seems that this handset will arrive in the South East Asian market, where it will sport quad-band GSM support and Bluetooth connectivity. This ought to be a low-end handset, and that would squarely place it in the crosshairs of folks living in numerous emerging economies throughout the region. Cheap as it might be, it will probably be a success as well.

Shanzai has come up with DIY netbook kits that allows you to build your very own netbook from scratch, and for the more enterprising ones out there, you might want to consider making your own version of a chassis instead of relying on something that is already pre-made. All you need to do to complete this would be to throw in a fair number of hard drives, the right amount of RAM and an operating system license, and you're good to go. Something tells us that more customized netbooks might just hit the likes of Etsy and eBay if this kit catches on with the DIY enthusiast crowd.

Have you ever experienced the frustration of having the dirt fall off the dustpan, after you’ve swept it in? Well, if this concept Dustpan Vacuum becomes a reality, that issue might just be confined to the history books. Instead of just being a boring piece of plastic, the Dustpan Vacuum has a little vacuum hidden in its handle, and will suck in the dirt and grime from the dustpan, keeping the dustpan clean, and avoiding the dust from falling back to the ground. Sounds a lot better than your current dustpan, doesn’t it?

Here’s a rather interesting concept, dubbed Piksol. The device is really a solar powered shadow casting, panel, which seems rather useless on its own, but when used in large quantities, can come up with some rather interesting facades. As can be seen in the video (below), a large surface that sports many Piksol units bunched together can easily display the different pictures on the same surface. Could this be the future of billboards?

Add to myYahoo! The Suzuki Neutron netbook will be powered by the latest Pine Trail platform, but apart from that, everything else about it will be similar to its predecessor including a 10.2" display, up to 2GB RAM, up to a 250GB hard drive, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, a memory card reader, VGA output as well as a lithium-polymer battery which is touted to offer up to 5 hours of battery life. No idea on pricing or availability as at press time though, but you can pick it up in Singapore already.

Remember our story on Dell removing the Adamo XPS system from its lineup? Well, Dell has taken a 180-degree turn from its prior statements that pointed out that the ultra-thin notebook was a limited edition model, where removing the channel of online sales helped stop excessive ship times. This time round, the system returns with a $1,999 price point, and there have been no changes made to its specifications. We can also expect to see more devices released under the Adamo umbrella later this year, so if you are looking out for something fresh on your desktop, this could very well be worth waiting for.

Despite earlier reports that Windows Phone 7 Series will not receive any copy & paste functionality, a person who works with Microsoft closely explained that it will be made available to the platform pretty soon after its initial release, as it could not be implemented before the release schedule so one can expect to see it thrown into the mix in an update sometime down the road. Hopefully they won't take as long as Apple to do so though...
